Some Things To Consider Before Purchasing:

Veterinarian Costs - There are 4 appointments required for your puppy within the first 8-10 wks that they come home with you. Two appointments are for boosters, one for rabies only, one for Bordetella only (Kennel Cough, this is necessary for obedience training classes). One last appointment may be at a year old when male dogs are neutered, or at 6 months of age when the female is spayed. This does not include any other unforeseen accidents/illnesses. Phone a potential vet and ask the costs related for vaccines, that will give you an idea of expenses.

Crate, toys, bedding, leashes and collars, and dog food are required approximately every 6 weeks. Socialization is a must for a growing puppy. By socializing your puppy they will meet new and exciting people, places and other animals that later in life will not scare them. Keeping the puppy at home will not condition them for the real world. There are big loud noisy trucks, cars, mowers and other machinery that your puppy needs to experience for he/she to grow up to be well balanced and social. Daily exercise is just as important. Labrador Retrievers are sporting dogs therefore they require exercise and swimming to challenge their lively spirit.

At Ironridge all puppies are C.K.C. Registered, tattooed, dewormed, dewclaws removed, first vaccines and vet checked for health at 6 weeks of age. Parents are hip, eye and elbow certified, puppies guaranteed in writing. All sold as non-breeding-pets only and contract signed according to C.K.C. Deposits are not required until the pups are born.

Ultra sounds are performed on the females one month after their breedings to ensure that they are pregnant, then there is no waiting longer than necessary. Once they are born deposits must be sent to reserve your choice of gender and color. After the puppies are born visits will be arranged to see the puppies when they turn 4-5 weeks of age, then between 7-8 weeks of age they are released to their new homes.

When you email it is important for you to ask for the gender and color that you prefer so I may answer your questions more accurately. I do not have a questionairre for you to fill out but I do prefer that you offer important information that I may read to understand your desire to purchase a Labrador puppy.

Crate training is a most useful tool, which I promote. I will assist anyone in finding appropriate training classes throughout Ontario.
